Black Maca is recognized as the most powerful.

It is used to stimulate mood, combat fatigue and stress, strengthen memory and learning functions.

Black Maca differs from other Maca by its effectiveness in supporting brain functions.

Make no mistake: Although Maca roots can be many colors, the resulting powder is yellow.

Maca, also known as Peruvian Ginseng, is an adaptogenic plant native to Peru. This plant was considered sacred by the Incas. When the Conquistadors invaded the Inca Empire, they used it as a stimulant and energizer. Maca was traditionally used by Indians during times of famine, in association with Spirulina.

According to an Andean legend, the Maca would have been "given" to Men by mistake by the god of thunder Choque Chinchay when he wanted to punish a couple for their incessant bickering and their inability to love each other. The lightning that was to hit the couple struck the ground, and only there was the ground covered with a carpet of green grass. Curiosity drove the couple to look under this greenish carpet. From it came a small root from the depths of Pachamama, Mother Earth. The couple had the idea of pouring it into their meager soup. They felt good, full of strength and fell in love again!

Maca balances the nervous system and contributes to stress reduction and general well-being. It strengthens the immune system and helps in the event of weakening, restoring energy and vitality to the whole organism.

Maca is an aphrodisiac plant for men and women, it would increase fertility. It would also reduce the symptoms of menopause and soothe painful periods.

Maca is a very rich plant, composed of 10 to 15% protein, 16 minerals (mainly potassium; calcium; phosphorus; sulfur; iron; manganese; copper; zinc and magnesium), vitamins (B1; B2; B12; C; D3; E; P) as well as 19 amino acids. Maca also contains tannins, saponins, alkaloids, isothiocyanates and glucosinolates which are said to play a major role in its aphrodisiac and energizing properties.
