The Chinese have known Eleutherococcus senticosus (Siberian Ginseng) for about 4000 years.

They attribute to its root the power to increase longevity, improve appetite and memory and participate in the good health of the body.

In 1855, two Russian scientists demonstrated the incredible properties of eleutherococcus.

Towards the end of the 1950s, numerous clinical studies were done on eleutherococcus, mainly to verify its adaptogenic effects, and to replace the rare and very expensive ginseng.

The concept of "adaptogen " was developed at this time by Lazarev and Brekhman, both Russian scientists. The important participation of Russians in research on eleutherococcus, and the presence of eleutherococcus in Russia are at the origin of the common name "Siberian ginseng".
